Bromley give2give
Logo

Icongive2give is a Bromley based registered charity that was founded 6 years ago by two local residents.  The aim of the charity is to improve the lives of local people across Bromley and the community they live in, not only for today but for generations to come. We achieve our aim by:

  • Raising funds for local good causes through our two charity shops in Hayes and Petts Wood.
  • Recycling over 12,000 items of furniture every year throughIcon our second-hand furniture stores in Hayes and St Pauls Cray. By offering re-use furniture for sale to the local community we are helping to protect our environment for future generations by saving over 500 tonnes of furniture from going directly to landfill each year.

We use the funds that we raise:

  • To make grants (up to £2,500 per grant) through our small grants programme, to local individuals, charities and community groups. In particular we focus on helping smaller organisations or groups which would not ordinarily be able to benefit from the income raised from charitable retail outlets. These smaller groups (often run solely by volunteers) add tremendous value to our local community, but quite often they do not have the time or resources to raise funds for essential equipment or ongoing operating costs.
  • To provide services & resources for local people in need (e.g. our free caravan holidays);
  • To research and develop new community based projects and initiatives (e.g. our Community Food Growing Project, our Resource Sharing Project).

Bromley Housing Facelift Project: Reducing Fear of Crime
Logo

IconThe Bromley Victim Supports' Facelift Project seeks to reduce crime and fear of crime within the most vulnerable groups in Bromley, by getting the community involved through volunteering work.

We therefore need you to help us identify eligible properties: overgrown gardens, peeling paintwork, junk and litter build up can all be the signs sought by burglars to identify their target.

Upon receipt of referrals we will contact the resident to establish whether they meet the qualifying criteria, i.e. whether they are on low income and any benefits, elderly or disabled.

Supporting Service Development

Link up, Link in
Logo

IconThe Link Up Link In campaign, supporting joint working among frontline professionals, launched on 15th September 2009.

The launch event, held at the Local Government Association in London, was attended by sector leaders representing those working with offenders on probation, care leavers and people with mental health problems and learning disabilities.

The Link Up Link In campaign provides information, guidance and case study examples for frontline workers, supporting them in working together.

Regional events will be taking place across the country, more details to follow shortly.

Research carried out for the Social Exclusion Task Force shows that public services working together is key to getting at-risk groups into a stable home and job - the target of Public Service Agreement (PSA) 16.

Frontline workers consulted as part of the research were enthusiastic about the idea of a resource that could help them to work together more effectively.

Link Up Link In is a cross government campaign, managed and delivered by the Social Exclusion Task Force. It supports PSA 16 which is jointly owned by:

  • Department for Work and Pensions
  • Ministry of Justice
  • Department for Communities and Local Government
  • Department of Health
  • Department for Children Schools and Families
  • Cabinet Office
  • Department for Business, Innovation and Skills

National Social Inclusion Programme: Housing
Logo

IconPeople with mental health problems frequently have housing problems. One of the major difficulties faced by people with mental health problems are rent arrears due to actual and perceived complications with the benefit system, lack of communication between housing and benefits staff or an unexpected hospital admission. Stable, appropriate housing is critical for people to work and take part in community life.
